KCRAR FAQ for CE and Professional Development Courses

Note: Some of the policies below will be different for the HMLS Technology Training sessions. Contact Rikki Cartwright at [email protected] for more information.

Receiving Campus Emails

  • Q: I’m unable to find my KCRAR Education Campus welcome and reminder emails for upcoming classes and meetings.

A: In order for emails from the KCRAR Education Campus to reach you, you will need to allow this email address to go to your inbox. If you are part of a brokerage, you may need your IT Team to edit this setting for you. Allow email from: [email protected].

Camera Requirements

  • Q: My camera isn’t working. Can I still participate and attend my virtual (live-stream) continuing education, designation or certification courses?

A: No. Students are required to be on camera at all times and actively engaged while attending KCRAR continuing education, designation or certification courses. This requirement is placed on KCRAR by both Kansas and Missouri’s state mandates for CE completion.
For NON-CE courses, excluding KCRAR New Member Orientation, being off camera is allowable, but we encourage on-camera attendance for a more robust learning experience.

  • Q: Am I allowed to use my phone to attend my virtual (live-stream) course?

A: No. Cell phone usage as a primary device is strictly prohibited. Usage of cell phones as a secondary device for audio or camera purposes may be permitted at the discretion of the instructor or course monitor.

  • Q: If I have connectivity issues during class, will I be allowed to continue?

A: Students must meet technology requirements during registration check-in prior to the start of class. Failure to sustain a stable connection will count as missed time. Student registration may then be placed on hold for transfer to another course for completion at a later date since students cannot make up missed time.

  • Q: I may need to run errands, take calls, or attend a showing during class. Is this allowed?

A: No. Students must refrain from any activity that you could not do while in a classroom. Students will not receive credit for class time and participation if a student fails to adhere to the policies outlined in our Overview and Policies link. This includes, but is not limited to, driving or being in a vehicle, video or audio not working, inappropriate attire, consistent connectivity issues, being mobile and not in front of the camera, or doing non-class related activity during class hours.
We recommend you present yourself in class like you would to a client: attentive and engaged.

  • Q: I’m not feeling well and would like to lie down. Can I be in my bed during class?

A: Students are advised not to be lying in bed unless there is a medical reason, as such, documentation is required prior to the start of class.

Class Policies and Handouts

  • Q: If I'm late for class, can I make the time up?

Late arrivals into a CE class will not be admitted, regardless of the reason. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but this is a state regulation that we must adhere to with no exceptions. You will be required to attend the whole class in order to receive a course completion certificate and CE credit.

  • Q: I took a class a few days ago and it had a really great handout. Can I get that emailed to me?

A: Course materials are available for most classes for ten (10) days. You may retrieve them from your course on your campus My Dashboard.

  • Q: Will my course ever have the potential to be canceled?

A: KCRAR reserves the right to cancel or reschedule courses that have not yet begun as needed. Our minimum enrollment requirement is ten (10) students. Students enrolled in a rescheduled or canceled course that has not yet begun will be given a minimum of 24-hour notice of the cancellation or new course schedule.

  • Q: How do I get my Course Certificate of Completion?

A: When you complete a course there are instructions that guide you on how to get your certificate. Your certificate of completion will be made available to you via your KCRAR Student/Member Dashboard, once you complete the course completely. This means completing all lesson modules to 100% and passing any required quizzes and exams, according to that course's specific requirements. At this point, your course completion will be verified. You may return to the My Account page to retrieve your certificate at any time. It will remain available in the campus “Certificates” section of My Account . Note: Please allow 24-48 hours for verification and processing.

  • Q: How do I know if my credit has been posted to my license record?

For Continuing Education: We will report Kansas and/or Missouri licensee continuing education course completions directly to relevant commissions. Please allow 5 business days for processing.

  • Q: I have a question for the Association. Should I post it in our class chat or call the Association? What If I Need to Contact KCRAR’s Education Department?

    You can do that here:
    11150 Overbrook Rd.
    Suite 100
    Leawood, KS 66211
    Phone: 913-661-1600 ext. 3
    Email: [email protected]

Zoom Questions

  • Q: Will I need to have Zoom installed on my computer to take a KCRAR virtual class?

A: For the best experience, open and log into your Zoom application first before joining a virtual class (and/or download and install it!). With that, you'll retain a lot of the settings you've added, such as your name. Once you join the Zoom session, make sure your first and last name are correct on the screen. It's helpful to test your Zoom meeting settings before joining classes on the virtual campus. Click this Zoom Test Meeting link and practice using your Zoom controls. If you have difficulty joining the Zoom Test Meeting, kindly contact our team at [email protected] or 913-661-1600.

  • Q: When will I get the Zoom link for my course?

A: You can access your course on the KCRAR campus through My Dashboard. Your Zoom session will launch from within your course player and you will also access the lesson modules for the course from your campus My Dashboard. If this is your first Zoom session, you will need to download the Zoom software prior to class. If you have joined a Zoom session from your computer before, you may continue through your lesson modules until the “Launch Your Zoom Session” module appears. Zoom will launch from clicking the button.

  • Q: Why didn’t Zoom launch automatically when I clicked the Zoom button in my course?

A: You may need to enable your security settings in your browser to allow launching applications. You may also access the course, via your KCRAR Student/Member Dashboard, from a different browser.

    • On a Mac, try Chrome rather than Safari, or Firefox.
    • On a Windows machine, try Edge or Chrome.
    • On Android tablets, use Firefox.
    • For iPads, use Safari.
    • You can also change your browser security settings to allow Zoom to launch, or have your IT department update the restrictions.
    • As a last resort, contact our office at 913-661-1600.
  • Q: Is there a technical support number I can call if I have any technical issues?

A: The course monitor is there to assist you with any technical issues you may experience so feel free to notify them in the chat. You may also contact us directly at KCRAR Institute by emailing [email protected] or by phone at 913-661-1600 should the need arise. For On-Demand Education, please email [email protected] and include the class name and that you are on the KCRAR and HeartlandMLS campus.
